Islington Message in a Bottle

The ‘Message in a Bottle’ scheme is a voluntary scheme for anyone living at home. It provides emergency information that is readily available to the emergency services should you suffer an accident or illness.

Your details, which are entered on the form provided with the bottle, are stored in the clearly labelled plastic container, which is then kept in the fridge. There are clear instructions on the form on how it should be completed and stored.

Why in the fridge? As the majority of homes have a fridge this is the best place to keep this information as the emergency services know that this is where the bottle is kept.

How do they know you have a bottle in the fridge? The container is supplied with 2 distinctive white and green labels which are known to the emergency services and other care agencies. Stick one label to the outside of the fridge door and the other one on the inside of your front door. This alerts the services that emergency information is available.

Bottles are available from stockists around the Borough, including Age Concern Islington. Should you wish to find your nearest stockist please ring
