What you can do

Refreshments

You can enjoy a two-course lunchtime meal with a choice of menus (fee currently £3.00, payable on the day). You will also be able to get light refreshments (eg tea, coffee and toast) at a low cost.

Activities

You can make an appointment with the Centre’s reasonably priced and friendly hairdresser two days a week (Tuesday and Thursday), and can browse through the “As New” second-hand clothes and bric-a-brac shop run on site by Members.

You will also be able to join regular parties, outings and events that are organised throughout the year. Details of forthcoming parties, events and outings are shown in the Diary section, as well as being shown on the noticeboards at Sotheby Mews itself.

Sotheby Mews’ Members come from a wide range of backgrounds. You are welcome to attend on any and every weekday if you wish, but there are also three different groups that attend the Centre on specific days. These are The Caribbean Pensioners and Friends (attending Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), The Asian Elders Drop In group (Thursdays) and the Turkish Elders group (Wednesday).

Sotheby Mews is not an online centre but members have free access to the internet.

Getting more involved

As well as enjoying the activities all members are welcomed to get more involved in the life of the Centre. Many support the Centre through volunteering - such as helping run the second-hand clothes shop or decorating the Centre for parties. You may be able to offer skills to assist the staff in the main Office. Money raised by Members help pay for the parties and some outings. Members also play a vital role in helping run Sotheby Mews through its elected Members’ Committee.
