Musical Opportunities

If you would like to get involved in creating a piece of music then we want to hear from you.

You don’t need to have musical experience, you just need to be keen to try something new. Everyone aged 50+ who lives in Islington is welcome to join our projects.

Sample Opportunities

You could get involved in a music project with the London Symphony Orchestra and local primary school children. The project runs for 3 weeks in June each year with participants working together to compose and perform a piece of music, inspired by a famous composer, culminating in a live performance at St Luke’s on Old Street, the home of London Symphony Orchestra.

For anyone with a love of music and a story to share then the Community Opera workshops are looking for you. Several Age Concern Islington volunteers joined 2006’s Songs of Home and had a fantastic experience. In 2007, the theme is Belonging and the series of workshops runs from May to June, culminating in two performances - Saturday 16 June, Highbury Fields & Saturday 14 July, IAMS Community Arts Festival.
